    alba 32" hd lcd

Hi guys n gals..my neighbour was throwing this lcd out so i took to have a look at..dont know the model no as the sticker is half ripped off..it was from argos 2yrs ago..its 32" with 1 hdmi port and 2 scart sockets..all the ones ive been looking at only have 1 scart..this has 2 scarts with power buttons etc on the side of the tv so im stuck on the model..

Anyways the problem was blue led flashing no picture or sound or backlight..opened it up to find 4 caps bulged..the psu model no is (17PW20)..2x50v100uf where the L shaped heatsink is and 2x6.3v4700uf..replaced with same values and the blue led light is now steady on but still no backlight..picture or sound

I dont know what to check now and ..thx
Ive downloaded psu schematics but i dont know how to follow it

Vestel? They are well known to me, unfortunately for me. The Lada of the TV world.

Your problem is most likely the two 15n caps near the top of the transformer, between the MOSFET heatsink. They are usually blue cuboids (film cap) or red dipped film caps.

Check the output voltages, a common symptom when these go bad are low output voltages. Like 24V measuring around 15V.

No need to. The caps usually bulge when failed, but should be replaced anyway. There are repair kits on eBay.

The voltages are usually only low when a load such as the inverter or main board is connected, they may be fine with no load. You can probe the voltages by sticking the black probe in an exposed screw hole on the TV and by pressing the red probe into the connector pin. If they are normal, then the PSU is likely fine. If they are low, then something's probably wrong with the PSU. If they are not there at all, it could be the PSU but it could also be the main board not switching on the outputs or a shorted load.

Your best bet is to find what other TVs that motherboard is used in, and seeing if they have remote controls for sale on eBay.
