According to shop jimmy.com one of the x-mains are interchangable so i some might but to confirm you'll have to verify the board numbers on both. Is the philips you want to use as a parts tv have a broken panel?

This was pulled from a philps pdp manual concerning the led light on the y main:
If the LED is ON then you have a problem with the Panel,
Y- Buffers or Y-Main Board. Starting at the panel connections
unplug them and then Y-Buffers one at a time (while unplugging
& plugging the AC cord). Each time confirm if the LED stays ON
after unplugging the connectors from the Panel to the Y-Buffers.

The Samsung has an LED light on on the Y-SUS, not the Philips.

So the y-sus is different between the samsung and your philips? My 50PFP5332D/37 has a green led on the y-sus.

Your problem is in the Power Supply. If the set is clicking

have repaired these 100 times already. It is a common problem

you will need to get:

HPT4254 Deluxe PSU Repair Kit



Contents:
1 8A 250V Time Delay/Slow Blow 5mm X 20mm fuse
2 FQPF9N50CF MOSFETs
2 FDA18N50 MOSFETs(substitutes for 2 FQA13N50CF)
4 20 ohm 0.25W SMD/MELF resistors
2 10k ohm 0.25W SMD/MELF resistors
2 1SS184T5LFT SMD dual common cathode ultra fast recovery diodes
2 2200uF 25V capacitors(replaces CX813 and CX814)
1 1gram tube of heat sink compound

to repair that television.

You can just change the caps but, it will ONLY last a few days. The diodes go bad and, the resistors lose value, which in turn will kill the new caps if you install them only

There are kits available specifically for this television. I am not sure if it is available on this site, but, I think it might be

Even has a manual and instruxctions as to where they are and which to change

Jon, how much for the rebuilt power supply? Is it cheaper if I mail you back the old one to rebuild and keep for yourself as a spare to sell or to rebuild for me? My TV is an HPT5064 with no video but excellent sound, it was clicking on and off early on but that stopped and there is still sound but no video. The weird thing is if I use the RCA inputs for a DVD to produce sound and pull the (yellow) video-in cable from the TV the sound stops, I thought red and white were audio and yellow was video only - WTF? If you are sure its the power supply I'll purchase it if reasonable, the TV is only 3+ years old, the logic board is already new and all the heat sinks on the power supply, X & Y heat up evenly, LED light is on on the Y-SUS. Is there anything specifically I can look for to be sure?

Actually just got off thye phone with Preher-Tech, if I send the board to them they can fix it for $65. Just need to know what you want for yours.

Oddly I have had this happen to me with a CHE MEI panel and it was none of the above I didn't find the problem till I went further into the panel and seen that the backlights were arcing off on the frame the real bummer is by the time I had found and had lights ordered the screen got busted cause something was set on top of it so I had good backlights and a busted screen.

But either way it was very interesting I would not turn it on anymore you may risk blowing something more due to the arcing if this is the case.

OK, in that case. test the buffers to see whether they are shorted or not
In some cases the power supply will also click if it is under heavy load such as by Burned Y-Buffers or Y-Sustain

You can also try removing either the top or bottom and turn the set on, IF one of the buffers are bad you will have 1/2 screen either top or bottom depending on which , or both, are bad

So are you saying the tiny LED on the y-sus board shouldn't be lit when there is power to it? If it is that indicates a problem?

Mr.Bill I have a Philips 50PFP5332D with a bad power supply being rebuild by Preher-Tech and a Samsung HPT5064. I am focusing on the Samsung repair now but I don't want to spend a lot of money on it at this point since I've already invested almost $100 into it, I get not a thing on the display but perfect sound. In addition I noticed using my DVD player to get sound that I need the red, white and (yellow video????) RCA jack plugged in to get sound, if I pull out the yellow RCA video jack the sound stops. I plugged just the tip in being careful no to make a full connection with the outside of the yellow RCA jack ring and the sound comes back....weird. It's almost as though it has a bad ground. Is it possible the main board is FUBAR, I've already replaced the main logic board? I just don'T know if I should waste anymore time or $$$ on this TV or just take it apart and use it for parts? Suggestions?

Ugh, I was hoping this would be an easy one. I guess I'll order the kit. And yes, John Preher is a good dude - I've learned a lot from him via Internet correspondence; he knows his stuff. I actually didn't realize until awhile after initially corresponding with him that he lives about 30 miles from me - LOL.

Can you still do this repair exchange price? I have the HPT4254 that has the shut off clicking issue. I don't see anything visually on the power supply board that looks bad. Was hoping to see some blown caps that I would be able to replace, but no such luck. It stops clicking when I unplug the main board(one with inputs). I'm hoping it is just the power supply board.
