    magnavox 42MF231D/37 Poor color

My mother just gave this TV to my sister and the color is very poor. It seems like it is missing the green. Picture looks yellow and we spent the whole day adjusting the color, Tint, etc.

My TV uses a bulb but this one does not. I have searched but cannot find any type of information on what causes this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's a plasma display. Check the Z-sustain fuse. Usually a blown Z-sustain fuse causes the picture to go purple though.

To translate...lay the TV face down on a a suitable surface on a folded up blanket then remove the rear cover. About 25 screws. I would remove the base if attached. Viewing from the rear as the TV would be sitting/mounted the "sustains" are mounted about five inches from the sides of the frame. You should have acess to the fuse on the RH sustain but will need to remove the vertical support to access the left sustain. The sustains are the boards with the large heat sinks.

The foam tape peels back to reveal screws that retain the support bars.

Edit: the markings in yellow on this picture are somewhat incorrect. The Y sustain is on the left and X sustain on the right. The fuse on the X board is located just above the top edge of the heatsink. The Y board has one located in same spot but at lower part of heatsink. The Y heatsink is obscured from view by the vertical support bar.
