HP 50" Plasma Black Blob no inputs

Just picked up a Bad HP PL5060N 50" Plasma. TV was working fine then a loud pop. Now the screen has a black area covering about 2/5 of the screen. The black area does shift as it gets warm and some of it is in the top and bottom half of the screen. I have connected a PC and also a DVD player and am getting no video to the set. The rest of the picture is blue and if I hit the menu button it will clear out the black and display the menu in poor quality. I can also see the No Signal box bounce around the screen. I tested output voltages on the power supply and they are within specs. VS and VA are at the high end with 197v and 61v. Other voltages to the the other boards check out except for the output to the upper and lower buffer. They are labeled 5v but i am reading -105v to the upper buffer board. A visual inspection shows no obvious blown caps, diodes or IC's

Any help would be appreciated. This is my first attempt at plasma TV repair.

I just repaired a TV like this; check the fuse on the Z-sustain for the Va voltage. On mine it was open.

Thanks for the Reply Tom. I thoroughly inspected the Z-Sus board and I am not seeing a fuse. There are two fuses on the Y-Sus board one for Va and One for Vs and they have proper voltages on both sides. Also tested the voltage into the Z-Sus and the voltage out of the Z-Sus to the Z-Driver Boards and they are correct as well. I am concerned with the High Voltage out to the Upper Y-Drive Board.

Well it looks like everyone is drawing a blank on this one. Lets try it a little differently. Can someone recommend a good vendor where I can send both they Y-Sus and Z-Sus boards off to be repaired as I have heard this is the most economical. Also I am worried that my driver board may be bad. Is there a way to test continuity or voltage on them so I can take an educated guess as to whether they need to be replaced before I spend money on the other two boards. I would hate to buy the two SUS boards and blow them up with other bad parts.

        Thanks again for your help.

Just make sure you understand their service since the owner there isn't too forgiving if it is your mistake. Read their blog and you will get a sense of the BS he has to deal with from customers. Otherwise, his ebay feedback is pretty good and most customers seem happy.

I have this plasma TV in my shop right now... Same
black blob" then no power. One 330UF 450v snap-in cap was exploded. Is is a Sony power supply board. The fuse is good. I will be replacing 6 capacitors:
            3 330UF 450v
            3 470UF 250v
aluminium electrolytic snap-in types all showing heat distress. I will post the repair results soon

You will find you need to repair the Z-sus, if the fuse is blown.
