Iccfl has it for 14.40 but it looks like they are in china. I will probably pick it up from shop jimmy and hope i can break even on the monitor just to keep it out of the trash. It looks like a better quality monitor than many I have worked on.

Let me see if I can clarify.

On the transformer on the left side of the picture. The side with four pins all four pins have less than 1 ohm of resistance between each other.

There is no continuity between the left side of the transformer and any pin on the right side.

On the right side of the picture. the four pins are also connected with little resistance but the lower of the 7 pins has a resistance of 560 ohms with the side with 4 pins.

My assumption here is I have a bad transformer....

Ok, I changed the battery in the DVM, Set the range to 2k, and retested.
On the transformer on the left in Post 19 I still show no connection. I made sure I scraped through into clean solder and i get connectivity with leads on the same side of the transformer.

I am now reading about 550 ohms on the right side transformer between the corner and any connector on the opposite side.

Using 2k range. no continuity between the points you suggested. No continuity between anything on the left side and any of the connections on the right on either transformer.

    All show an open connection.

took your measurements in post 19 and there is no continuity. Shows an open circuit on my meter 200 ohm Range.

Here is a picture to show where i measured the inverter transformers. Hope this clarifies things. I will work on making sense of the other post to give it a try.

Ok First Readings on the Transformer Secondaries where made with an autoranging fluke 116.

    Remeasured with a Wavetek
on 2000 range readings between all four connectors is 0.0
on 200 range readings are 1.2 ohms on all connectors both transformers.

Yes if i Turn the monitor off and back on with a PC connected I get a display for about half a second.

    Rtech

Secondaries measure .2 ohms between all 4 pins both transformers.

I have a ccfl tester. It has the small ccfl connectors. I will get out the alligator clip leads and connect and test the ccfl's

  • Viewsonic VX900 Bad Inverter

Trying to save a Viewsonic VX900 from the landfill. Monitor will turn on with a green light but there is no backlight. Flashlight reveals that the image is there. Was able to find a service manual and was able to follow a troubleshooting chart which says I have a bad inverter. I believe I agree with this diagnosis. Here is what I have done.
    1. Checked all connections to the inverter.
2 Checked for 5v and 12v to the inverter at the proper locations.
    3. Checked Q2 Q3 Q11 Q12 no shorts appear to be good.
    4. No bad solder joints
    5. 2 fuses near CN1 are both good...

  • Re: Dell 1800FP No Power

Just thought I would follow up in case anyone else was following the thread. The 2AS01 IC's showed up and I swapped out the one in the board. Also recapped all of the caps on the board with panasonic FM series. Board is fixed and is now working great. Thanks again for the awesome help.

  • Re: Dell 1800FP No Power

Thanks Retiredcaps. I went ahead and ordered 10 from China. Findchips showed everyone out of stock locally. Let me know if anyone needs one I will make you a deal. I will post back and let everyone know if this resolves the problem. Part won't be here for about 15 business days.

  • Dell 1800FP No Power

Working on a Dell 1800FP. The monitor shows no sign of life. No Power LED, No Image. Here is what I have Done so far.

    1. D903 and D906 both had bad solder joints which were resoldered.
    2. T901 had a couple of Cracked solder joints so all pins were resoldered.
    3. Main Fuse is good.
    4. 165VDC across the Large cap.
    5. No power at the connector to the logic board. Should be 5vdc and 12vdc
    6. Checked IC901 (ICE 2AS01) for shorts pin 6 and 7 show 7 ohms. Does this indicate a short. DVM was on 200 ohm scale and shows .25 with leads shorted.

    So far...

  • How to Fix DCLCD DCL9B 2 Seconds to Black

Thought it might be useful to post a successful repair procedure for this monitor.

The monitor was exhibiting classic 2 seconds to black symptoms. Turn it on and you would get a picture for 1 or 2 seconds then it would go Dark.

I recapped the board using all panasonic low ESR capacitors. Everything on the board was replaced except for the (3) 1uf caps.

Problem was gone. Monitor was tested for 24 hours with no problems and a nice picture.

A picture of the front of the board is attached with the capacitor values labeled.

  • Re: Acer AL1914 Power Light on No Display

I happened to have a working Acer AL1912 Monitor. Opened it up and the power supply is identical to the AL1914. Swapped the power supply out with the one from the AL1914 and the monitor works like a charm.

Looking at the bad LCD panel I can't see the CCFL's they look like they may be buried very well. Is there a guide for replacing the CCFL's? Haven't done a replacement of one of these yet. Anything else I should check first?

Thanks for the help so Far.

More Accurate Transformer Readings. Meter Scale set to 2k

    Top transformer Pair .566 k
    Bottom Transformer Pair .569 k

Tested all of the mosfets on the Back for shorts.
All the three Pin mosfets show no shorts

U801 however shows a short between pin 1-4 and pin 6
Part Number of this chip is SG6841SZ

  • Re: Acer AL1914 Power Light on No Display

Ok switched the meter to the 2kohm setting instead of 200 and I am reading .5 k ohms.
On the 200 ohm setting it shows no continuity. If I touch the leads together on the 200 ohm setting it shows less than 1 ohm.

I will see if I have another working monitor I can test the CCFL's and Panel
