    Samsung LE32B653 doesn't stay on

    Hello,

Few days ago my Samsung LE32B653 started turning off by itself after 2-3minutes of being on. There are no image disorders, no clicks - it just turns off but power led is still glowing red (neither remote or buttons work in this condition). After turning off power for a minute or two and then plugging back - tv starts responding to remote, turns on, works for a minute or so and then the cycle repeats itself.

I am no expert, more like a self-taught novice in this, but from what i can tell - there seem to be some issues with power board(BN44-00261B). While tv stays on, it works perfectly fine, so main board should be functioning properly... i hope. I did notice one thing concerning buzzing sound - before this problem, when tv was in standby, there was some buzzing coming out of power board and when tv was turned on - the buzzing always disappeared. Now it's viceversa - in standby there is almost no buzzing sound, but when powered on - there is and it's not ... erm... constant? it sort of volumes up and down (and it's not coming from speakers, i disconnected them). Buzzing comes from power connection area (LX801S, LX802S). There are no blown fuses, no burn marks, caps are ok (recapped just in case).

Any advice or guidance to find the source of problem would be greatly appreciated.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but with this description (that the error resets after unplugging and plugging back in) indicates probably a main board issue to me, power board is unlikely with this complaint.

The first thing I want to tell you is that there is only one replacement power board on Ebay fir this at $65 with free shipping - if that is the issue. If you want to go further into this troubleshooting, you may miss out on a cheap board. Since it's the only one, the next time you see one listed, it may be $120.

If you want to go further with troubleshooting, I'd check the caps with a cap meter and an ESR meter.

With this being said... you have to know that if a picture is not there, that is different from saying that the set turned off. The power LED is showing that the set is not in standby but that it is in "ON" mode. With the lights off in the room, use a flashlight to verify if there is a picture in the background.

Another thing to try is with the power board connected to the set, disconnect the cable going to the mainboard and then power up the set. On these models, this should make the backlight come on.

I was so hoping that it's not like that

Unfortunately i do not have proper equipment for that, so as i said - i recapped with brand new caps (this sort of verifies, that old caps were not the issue)

No picture, no sound, remote not responsive.

Backlight is on and stays on (tested for 15minutes)

Check the diodes on the power board. If you dont find the problem then just replace the power board. The inverter section of the power board is working but the other power is not quite right usually.

It's usually the power board more than the main board in this case.
