    Samsung Plasma troubleshooting

    Hello,

I have a 42 inch Plasma with samsung guts that was built around 2004

I tested the voltages from the power board and the Vs, Ve and Vset voltages are wrong so i know that board is dead. Also, I read that the y sustain and the y buffers often go bad on these sets... my buffers look nothing like on

    http://blog.coppelltvrepair.com/2010...er-boards.html

So I have no clue how to test them.

At the moment I can power on the tv and the power led turns blue (from red while in sleep) and I can have sound on the tv but no picture at all (completely black).

So i was thinking about switchin boards until the TV works, but im scared to blow up my replacement parts.

If the Y buffers and/or the Y sustain board is defective and I replace the power board, can they blow up my replacement board?

Also if anyone has a SM for a Prima ps-42d8c (my tv) or one of those similar TV bellow, i would appreciate it if you could send it to me.

    Maxent MX-42VM10 or AKAI PDP4294 and PDP42298ED, ESA PDP4294LV, ILO P42BSMT, MAXENT P4202YD04, Phillips 42FD9935/17, SAMSUNG SPN4235, SANYO DP42746

    Thank you!!!

Forgot to mention that the bad voltages comming out of my power board are all bellow what they should be. Can I then asume that nothing else was damaged by the power supply failling?

Yes, bad X and or Y boards in plasma TVs can take out other boards. You should post what the voltage readings actually, not just that they are wrong or low. Inaccurate voltage readings are not much help in troubleshooting.

Can you post a pic of your power board? The voltages can often be adjusted back to where they should be - on many TVs they drift out of tolerance and go bad.

A good source of service manuals / schematics is Elektrotanya. I'm not sure I'd put much time / money into a 7 year old plasma TV. Wine improves with age, plasma TVs don't.

For a number of reasons, both health and personal, I will no longer be active on this board. Any PMs asking for assistance will be ignored.

Just an 852x480 panel, too. Not HD. http://www.epinions.com/reviews/pr-P...nel_Television

I would personally sell it on Craiglist to someone who is okay with spending a bit on an older TV.

Try starting a new post. No sense in digging up a year and a half old thread.
