Got this TV for £2.19
.
When plugged in it works fine, but initially has an orange tint. After a few minutes the tint goes away. Other problems are sparkles visible during dark scenes.
Opening it up I see the three caps filtering the Vs bus are bulged. They do not have a vent and look ready to explode!! Why do these caps not have a vent?
I am going to replace these and I am wondering if these could cause the described problems?
On the set I notice various warnings about high voltage and hot surfaces. I have never fixed a plasma before, only dealt with LCDs, which have 330V-400V PFC buses, but I have been careful with them. What precautions should I take around the high-voltage buses? The caps measure 0.06V with my meter - is there a bleeder resistor anywhere for them? I left the TV off for about 1 hour (unplugged) and the PDP was cool to the touch.
It's annoying - this TV was originally £3,000, apparently - and it is full of cheap Samyoung and Samwha capacitors.
I was going to use these: http://uk.mouser.com/ProductDetail/P...dkzWuKDhcfI%3d but I notice they are snap-in, would this make much of a difference?
I will upload pictures shortly... just have to find the camera.
