    toshiba 32hl66 dead

    Hi all

This toshiba 32hl66 came in with no backlight but sound. When we did a precheck, it was totally dead.

Further checking shows a blown fuse and shorted transistors on one half of the inverter board. Replaced the inverter board but still a dead set.

Thanks to Retired Caps was able to get a schematic which was very helpful. The set will start to boot up when the power plug is plugged in and then a brief booting up occurs and the set will shut down......... Tying to push the power button does not do anything.. Will have to unplug for about three minutes before trying again.

We have the power plug into a current meter set up to see what the current flow is and there is absolutely no activity on the meter when the power button is pressed.

Is it possible and likely that the shorted transistors and blown fuse ultimately hurt the power supply board??

Any other ideas or directions to take would be appreciated...

    Thanks

    Bill

It would help me and others if you keep everything pertaining to the same tv/problem in ONE thread. Opening multiple threads is confusing.

When I saw what you wrote above, I was totally confused until I used the search to find out what you were talking about.

We also like clear focused pictures of your boards (see below for instructions on how to upload your pictures).

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.

We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

        Hi

I apologize for the confusion, It was just trying to make sure that I let you know that it was appreciated and credit due where it should be due.

The following pictures show the overall assembly.. with the next picture being the power sub assembly and the final power assembly.

If the set is told to shut down due to a fault, then all the voltages would normally come up and then shut down... So if your looking at a troubleshooting flow chart, it would only make sense if the set voltages stayed up.... or am I wrong..

The schematic for this unit did include a troubleshooting flow chart which does not make sense as the voltages for the dead set chart do come up and then fall off..

Thank you for your help.... even if I did confuse and frustrate you all..
