So far the top lamps are staying lit - and now that the top lamps are working on T7 and T8, the bottom lamps on T1 and T2 are also staying lit (I did not swap these transformers) - they may be tied in with each other. I have the middle lamps disconnected because I removed the LT-17R transformers from their circuits.

Well, after several hours of staying lit, the bottom lamps started turning off again - but, the top lamps with the swapped LT-17R stayed lit.

Even if I could get exact replacement transformers, I would need at least 3 - and at $12 each, as per LCDPARTS.net pricing, that would be at least $36 plus shipping. I am just going to shelve it for now because I have no real need to have it working at this time.

Even though I am not actually going to repair this unit at this time, I am going to add it to my list of successes because now I can actually repair it, if ever necessary, and because I learned a lot about the importance of the transformers needing to be within the proper range of spec. - even if they do not look like they are not too far off, they could be. Most of the Inverters that I have repaired with bad transformers were because the transformers were either shorted or open.

I am very satisfied that I know what part was causing the failure - with much thanks to retiredcaps and indirectly to plainbill, whose knowledge was relayed to me through retiredcaps.

Yes, sometimes the economics just don't make it worthwhile. If it were a 37 inch or 42 inch TV, then spending $36 would be worthwhile, but not for a 17 inch TV.

Maybe put in an ebay search query. When a "hit" occurs, you automatically get an email from ebay. I do this for items I'm interested in so I don't have to check everyday.
