    Hipo Media WIN-300PS

I found this psu yesterday and it works. Can it power an old p2 configuration? (pics below)

Wintech OEM,rated for 300w according to model.

I guess it can,but make sure you replace the secondary caps (DON are known for being utter crap in anything, not only Deer PSUs) and take a note of the 5v and 3.3v ratings on the label. I'd assume you will need about 30A for a safe zone, which is enough for a Pentium II configuration.
    Main rig:
    Gigabyte B75M-D3H
    Core i5-3470 3.60GHz
    Gigabyte Geforce GTX650 1GB GDDR5
    16GB DDR3-1600
    Samsung SH-224AB DVD-RW
    FSP Bluestorm II 500W (recapped)
    120GB ADATA + 2x Seagate Barracuda ES.2 ST31000340NS 1TB
    Delux MG760 case

      Re: Hipo Media WIN-300PS

It can, no problem. Just make sure to replace the output caps, like Dan81 said. Old motherboards with SDRAM do not take it well when the 3.3V and 5V rails are unstable, especially the 3.3V rail, since SDRAM often draws power *directly* from that rail without any regulation.

Some input filtering would also be a good idea, like a common-mode choke, an X2-class safety cap or two, and two Y2-class safety caps. If you go to a TV repair shop and ask for some junk boards, most TV power supplies (old and new) are bound to have those parts.

Last but not least: make sure the fan has oil and runs smoothly. Clean any dust from the fan and the PSU too.

Thanks guys So I added the input filtering, changed the output caps with teapos and ltecs (i dont wanna waste tier 1 caps) changed 5v, 3.3v and 12v schottky diodes.

        Added 2 x caps and 4 ys
        Added 2 coils
        DON 1000uF 16v --> LTEC LTG 2200uF 16v

          Re: Hipo Media WIN-300PS

          Looks good, Nick.
Should have cleaned the dust bunnies a bit more though.

Also, are you sure the original rectifier for the 12V rail was a 10A 40V schottky? Most half-bridge PSUs like this tend to have 100-200 V fast-recovery didoes. I don't suggest using anything with a rating lower than 60V. And for 5V-based PCs like the Pentium II, Pentium 3, and earlier Athlon XP CPUs, you don't really need to upgrade the 12V rectifier, because the 12V rail will be nearly unloaded anyways (other than the HDD and a few fans) and will run at normal voltage. In fact, using a schottky for the 12V rail can sometimes cause it to become really high on 5V-based PCs.

Anyways, you did everything alright, I just wanted to add the above information for completeness. I hope this PSU serves you well.
