Re: Mini split PFC baord repair assistance.

can anyone offer insight into what type of capacitors i need? There are so many options, and they look so similar to the ones on my board.

Note: None of the numbers come up with anything on the caps.

As well i cannot identify capacitor c104 can anyone offer suggestions on how? I read it out of circuit and got 121 uf

one other thing the resitor r9 has a spot i cant clean, how do i get the value of it?

i took the cap out and got some evidence that leads me to belive it is the same size as the other 100uf cap.

        If the colors are Brown-Green-Blue-Red Brown-Blue it should be a 15.6k 1% 10ppm. Make a search for 6-band resistor.

But i noticed that the IC U2 next to R2 seems to be smoked?

Just a suggestion: you should clean the board with alcohol to get a better view of the board damage and condition.

Well, bad news. I got all my new componetnts soldered in and turned it on.

One of the parts was a IC switch (596-1023-5-ND)

I guess this needs to be programmed? I am getting an e2prom error code from the mini split.

I dont think it is possible to fix this without a reference board.

          EDIT

I tried again this time with the compressor plugged in(didnt want to damage it as there is no refrigerant in it)
No error codes!! I need to braze the head units to the condenser and gas it up. Will follow back up with you all.

          Thanks!

Re: Mini split PFC baord repair assistance.

I am now getting a dc power supply short circuit error. It is related to the board i repaired or possibly the one below it.

Any tips on locating a short would be helpful!

found this chips leg bonded together with corrosion?
going to try to pick it out.
            This is a different board.

Well the leg broke fairly easily. Any good way to repair it? Or should i attempt to replace? I think these are programmed so that might not be possible

attempted to repair. Plugging everything back in.

here is a overall picture of the electrical workings of this unit.

                  and the manual
                  http://www.manualslib.com/manual/748...page=37#manual
i followed the diagnostics all the way. I dont get 310 volts i get 9 volts. Although the reactors tests are good.
Could a faulty reactor ruin the pfc module like it was?
