    Toshiba 32WL66Z blank display

After fighting with the power supply of this TV, i got it to start, but it shows a blank picture, backlights on. It does change in brightness with some button presses, i suspect it's switching sources or something. Does exactly the same with the Tcon unplugged.

I think it's the Tcon, but it's not dirt cheap, and i'd like to be sure. There is 5v going to the Tcon and the fuse is fine. Any other ideas? I'll try and test the regs but it's gonna be awkward.

Edit: Please move to TV subforum. And i think i found it - this TV has the wrong LVDS cable on it. The 5v and signal ends are swapped.

After more digging, we got it figured out. It wasn't the wrong cable, it was the wrong panel. The panel inside is a Chi-Mei, while the schematic called for a Sharp or LG.

We rewired the LVDS for this panel, and unfortunately the panel is bad. Got a huge black area on the left side, there's about 5cm good and then up to exactly half, it's black. There's 2 thin vertical lines which appear from time to time, or a white bar, but other than that it's dead. Right half is perfectly fine. Lifted the frame and the 2nd tab from the left was fully burnt.

We cut that tab away entirely, to see whether more of the panel works now, so we could at least use it for testing.

I've only ever seen these TVs with LG panels (32 inch models... the 42 inch used Chimei.) I'm amazed they were even able to get one to fit. They usually have different mounting points etc., also most older LG/Sharp are 32.0" and Chi-Mei cut costs by being 31.51" (and then everyone else followed...)
