    Active PFC with UC384x, TL494 or MC34063?

    I am wondering if there are any circuits for any active power factor correction circuits which use a UC384x, TL494 or MC34063. I am considering making one for an online UPS I am designing.
    My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

      I suggest loking to ST, they have plenty of app notes and desing notes on their respective a-pfc controlesrs.

          In a server supply with active PFC, it had an LT1249. The application circuit does not monitor the AC waveform. I am still wondering if it is possible to build a PFC circuit containing a UC384x, TL494 or MC34063.

              Transistor Devices had a P/S with active PFC implemented with a UC3842, ca. 1989, but I never saw the details on the design. I'd look into using a UC3854, an actual PFC controller. You should be able to find App notes for it on TI's website. It's been around for about 15 years, so it shouldn't be too pricey.
