Hello,
It seems the toroid god doesn´t like me. While I still hasn´t finished drawing the schematic from the LiteON font, someone asks us to take a look in these four dead Fujitsu/Siemens machines.
Not common case format, so simply exchanging the psu is not easy.
Well, lets open them hoping for just some burnt fuses. Ha.
One has a couple of domed caps in the motherboard, but the psu seems ok. The others, as can be seen in the pictures , were all well done. Interesting that the caps near the toroid do not show signals of heating, nor are bulged.
One of them had a broken diode ( BYV 27 ) also.
Substituting the still good toroid in the other psus, they seem to work. Voltages are a little wrong ( 12.8, -12.8, 5.7, 3.5 ) . I will need to check again them, with a more adequate load ( was using just a cd-rom at the time ) . One of them is hissing, could that be because of some of the heated caps ?
Seems I need to change or rewind the toroid. Provided the relative number of coils is the same, do you believe a toroid taken from other psu ( different brand, etc etc ) would work ?
Thanks,
