Asus ROG G72VL (or G752V series) schematic - if anyone can help, thanks

Haven't been around here for many years now and I hope someone might be able to help - yes I'm constantly doing research into finding the schematic I need or at least being able to identify the component/part that's blown. So I'll get to it:

I have an Asus ROG G752VL laptop I just picked up for a good price, dead on arrival but it does power on, and when it comes on the fans do spin after several seconds but that's about it - I pulled the power after about 4-5 seconds because I didn't want to make it worse than it is already based on the previous owner telling me "I turned it on, I heard a pop, so saw smoke, then turned it off. I turned it back on and the fans went crazy with noise and speed, so I unplugged it and figured it's toast and never messed with it again."

So, I disassembled it, took a look around and discovered this little problem:

Now, it's directly under the Nvidia GPU, and I haven't removed the HSF yet to get an even better look at the situation but it obviously popped for whatever reason. I'm going to presume - with my limited board level knowledge - that it could be a voltage regulator for the GPU, so that's why I'm on a quest to find the motherboard schematic and identify that component (as well as the surrounding circuitry) and potentially find someone that could do the repair since it's a bit beyond my technical skills.

So, the basic gist is I'm looking for the motherboard schematic(s) for an Asus ROG G752V series laptop. There are a bunch of models in the G752Vx series (where the x represents a different model like G752VS, G752VX, etc) and I'm fairly confident they all use the same motherboard assembly.

I was thinking I'd just get the laptop and order a replacement mobo from some eBay seller but, alas, the pricing on these mobos is $400+ and I can't afford that so I'm going to do whatever I can to get it fixed to the best of my abilities (meaning find the info, get the part, have someone else do the component replacement if possible).

Anyway, that's about it, if anyone out there can help me find that schematic or maybe even identify that component which sits just under the Nvidia GPU almost in the physical center of the mobo I would be forever grateful.

I was thinking I'd find a dead motherboard (dead for some other reason) then get it and remove the component but even dead G752 series mobos are apparently going for $250-300 and that's quite a lot to pay for a component or two to be swapped out.

Oops, guess I made a booboo in the thread title, it does say G752V series but for the record it should say G752V there properly, DOH!!!

By looking at the picture you have posted, the chip is severely burned and i can see serious track damage caused by it. If its only a bad chip problem, you can buy a replacement chip or grab one from another dead board and may try to fix the problem. But in your case, the solder pads under the chip is seriously roasted and i am 100% sure that it will be a nightmare even for a true professional to fix a new IC there. If you don't have professional skill in SMD soldering, i would highly recommend buying a new MoBo or even a new laptop.

Yah, I realize all that is basically true, but replacement boards are $400+ (kinda crazy expensive but since the CPU and the GPU are soldered on that's why it's so expensive), the laptop itself was $1500 brand new so it should be easy to understand why I'd prefer to get it repaired instead of having to fork over that much cash again, either for a mobo or a brand new machine.

I have no idea what the component that destroyed itself is hence the need to track down a schematic first and then proceed from there.

Even dead mobos for this G752 series are $300+, and THAT is crazy stupid to me but that's the kind of pricing I've seen so far on eBay and a few other sources.

Damned shame to see such a fine machine overall crippled just because of this issue, oh well.

So yeah, I'll still be hoping for a schematic whenever, the laptop is disassembled and just sitting here in pieces, maybe a small miracle will present itself at some point.

Schematics for Asus laptops are usually extremely rare. They almost never leaked to internet. For the thousands of Asus laptops out there, only a handful of schematics ever leaked. However somehow BoardViews are almost always leaked for Asus and its enough to identify components. But unfortunately your lap seems to be fairly new and i cant find a boardview even in paid sites which sells them. I assume it will take more time for the boardview to make its way to the internet.

The reason for the board is so costly is because the newer soldered CPU concept. The CPU might be soldered to the board and hence may not be removable. So for a new board, you have to pay the price of basically the MoBo and CPU. If the CPU is a beast like i7, naturally the price will be much higher.
