Need your help, I have Dell Latitude 6430u which shorts ac adapter.
First of all as you could had understand from title, I will be very glad if someone could share schematic of this motherboard: LA-8831P

Hi there,
Look for shorted FET usually SOIC8 package.
After you find the short FET take him out from the P.C.B
And check each pad on the PCB with reference to ground
For short circuit.
You probably have also a SMD ceramic CAP shorted to ground.
Hope you will find it.

Wrong schematic, its LA-8331p - Acer motherboard, And I asked for LA-8831P - Dell motherboard.
But nevermind, found bad SMD ceramic CAP shorted to ground, and that was all.

Yeah sorry, overlooked that one. No schematics for this one. (Why did Compal use the same product code for AMD and Intel platform anyway?)
I guess you could use the Latitude 6430, LA-7731p schematics.

Hello,

I had the same issue with a Dell 6430U after connected to the USB port a wifi router.
When plug the pwoer supply cable to he laptop , the LED on the cable PSU switch off for protection.
Replaced the Mosfet but nothing changed, could you please give me an idea where was located SMD ceramic CAP shorted to ground?

if you have regulated power supply inject power to the shorted power line but as low as possible,maybe around 1V-better if you see wattage on your supply-something around 1-2W and try with hand which component is heating.but it is dangerous for other components,try it only if you realy undestand what i say and mean :-)

i have found the shorted cap, the injecting voltage and watch what gets hot didn´t work this time, if someone have the same problem please upload a motherboard picture and i will mark where the cap it's located, i just gave the laptop to my cousin

Hi has anyone got a board diagram i have couple of burnt-out components it creating a short as soon as you plug charger in . Charger goes off . Looks like it capacitors

one caps shorted near of PQ1305, changed, laptop is ok
two big caps, up one was shorted

Thanks for schematic.
Have same problem (short circuit in B+). But not near PQ3105.
After some tests (give power in B+) had find warm place near PQ706 and PQ704. One of capacitors was in SC. it was 10u 25V 0805 smd capacitor
