Dell Inspiron 16 5620 ODIN 213264-1 (or 203128-1) schematic or boardview

Full part number on board is ODIN N ADL DDR4 UMA MB 213264-1. Can't seem to locate this even on paid sites as it's still very new model. There is however an earlier version of the board (203128-1)which looks pretty much the same from what I can see elsewhere but all are behind paywalls.

Technically still under warranty. Customer was told by tech support to disconnect the battery, and for some reason destroyed the connector on the battery itself. He sent it to Dell, saw the damage, and they refused to look at it and sent it back to him. So here we are.

PL4501 and PL4551 are the coils for +3.3V and +5V respectively. 5V is ok when powered on but drops to +2.2V soon after. I did initially think that this was being caused by the SY8288CRAC chip but swapping made no difference. Thermal camera seems to indicate that U5501 is the culprit (G2895BLK21U). Removing this does solve the +5V issue, however I don't see the board attempting to power on (have 1.8V on some coils, but no RAM voltages etc).

No info on the G2895BLK21U (marked at 285BL on the chip). I did find it in the Dell 19861-1 schematic as U5501 as well. Seems to be a switcher for panel power (hinge up cable protection). Can't see how this not being fitted would stop the power sequence but will have to order the IC and see.

Many thanks. I think the only difference between these two boards is a later generation of CPU. There is a boardview for this on paid sites as well. It would be handy, although the board is silkscreen with component designators.

I have the chip on order, but doesn't make sense why it's removal would prevent boot up. I suspect more going on.

              Hey reformatt,

I know its been awhile, did replacing G2895BLK21U solve your issue?

No. After replacement, the +5V rail would sometimes come up, or not at all. This was a job where the customer attempted to replace the battery themselves, and ripped the connector off the battery itself if I recall.

It was becoming a rabbit hole, so batted it back and told him to go back to Dell.
