Thinkpad T440p dead after bios flash

    Hi,

I have a Thinkpad T440p and it has severe connectivity issues. So to install a different wifi card i wanted to remove the whitelist and got me a programmer with bios clip.

This is what i did so far:
    - Laptop was working
    - bios chip is winbond W25Q32FV, 32Mb, was detected correctly by programmer
    - Dump bios file 2 times, comparing and checking for FF FF, this worked well, all dumps are the same (attached)
    - following this: https://notthebe.ee/blog/removing-the-wifi-whitelist/
    - modified the dump, signed it
    - flashed back

Then, when inserting battery and powering up, the devices does this:
    - Power LED lights up, fan spins up and stops again. After 5 seconds, LED flickers and fan spins up and stops again. No beeps, nothing displayed, repeats until battery is removed. Disconnecting cmos battery and discharging did not help.

Flashing back original dump does not change anything, still unresponsive. I also extracted the original 2.56 bios from the lenovo update package and flashed it, same result.

I'd be very happy for any suggestions to revive the device, the flash chip seems to be fine, flashing and verification is always successful.

Hi, same here. Did you manage to solve it?

Unfortunately, no. I ended up getting a new mainboard for cheap and selling the machine.

Hi, is there anything new? I have the same problem. T440p bios backed up and then patched. Patch installed. Since then the following error occurred: As soon as the power cable is connected, the fan starts rotating briefly, stops for a few seconds and then rotates again for about 5 seconds. The whole thing in a continuous loop. The power switch lights up permanently. This only stops when you remove the battery or pull the power plug. The same error pattern with every bios I play on it. This error occurs even if the BIOS chip is empty. Would be grateful for an answer. And yes, I have already freed three Lenovos from passport locations using the autopatcher. So actually I know how it works.
