Recovery of Dell Vostro 5468 BIOS - I've only gone and done it again....

Hi,

Could I please have some help rebuilding the BIOS .bin file for my Dell Vostro 5468?

The S/N is BL0ZTF2 (well out of warranty) so contacting Dell for help is out of the picture.

The BIOS has screwed up on the machine now, with some funky LED colour pattern being displayed....sometimes....other times is simply doesn't do anything when the power button is pressed.

I've attached a recent BIOS .bin dump I took from the laptop prior to this issue but when I reflash the image it makes no difference - I'm guessing the image is missing some form of header/footer part which I'm not aware of.

The BIOS chip in use is a WINBOND 25Q128FVSQ.

Any help would be great.

Well after some searching around this forum, I found another thread which mentioned the Vostro 5468, where the BIOS had been rebuilt with a clean ME region and boots into manufacturing mode.

The laptop took a few reboots to recognise the BIOS image, but when it does it boots asking to enter the Service Tag. Also, to exit manufacturing mode, press Alt + J.

before flashing the BIOS change the BIOS battery it worked for me
