    Hi there,

just a stupid question: I have an Elitebook 830 G6. Dropped the bios on the exe and the program reported, it has successfully unlocked the file. However, I dont think the file has been changed, I also dont see any new file (e.g. unlocked). Its the same file, with the same date, so Im not sure whether it has been modified or not. Or Im missing something here?

Simply put: where is the unlocked file?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

While I finish reading the whole thread, I'll tell my experience in case it helps.

I want to remove admin bios password from a HP Zbook G3 and a HP Zbook G6.

    -I bought a cheap eprom reader/writer and a sop8 clip
-downloaded software, installed drivers, etc in windows 11
-tried 1st with an old Dell desktop, located the bios chip, placed the clip, did several reads, verify, compare CRCs. Worked fine

Now let's try the real thing, the G3 bios is suitable for the clip, however the G6's is too shallow and bigger and would need a wson8 pogo pin adapter (or desolder the chip!).

-Open the laptop, remove the battery
-Connect the clip to the bios chip, a bit difficult and not always placed it right
-When I have it right I do several reads, and they don't match. Verification throws an error, but I can see the some content is there, even sometimes readable text
-I notice than a blue led blinks on the laptop when reading
-Removed everything a turned on the laptop: the fans are full speed (oh, no!)
-After 30 seconds or so the laptop starts booting, HP sure start logo and a message of 'BIOS MISSMATCH'
-It seems that the bios got corrupted or I sent current to the wrong pin by misplacing the clip, or who knows
-The sure start self heals and flashes the original BIOS (it's a dual BIOS system)

The computer works fine again and the restored BIOS didn't have a password. So password removed...by corrupting the bios and letting the system heal itself. Live and see.

Now I don't know what to do with the G6, trying the pogo pins probe may cause a disaster or the same may happen and the laptop itself restores a backup without password.

I already have the new chip! I can install a new bios to the 2 chips? and that's it? I don't need to break the password, I'll settle for it to turn the laptop back on hehe.

I open a separate post to get a clean bios?

HP Clean VSS2 dumps, fix Endpoint Security error
    by SMDFlea
Just a thread to post clean VSS2 files/dumps in.A clean VSS2 file can, in some cases, fix
the infamous **"Endpoint Security" error message.
Be aware that if you use a clean VSS2 you may need to fill in missing DMI info using HP BCU !

I`ve included some clean files/dumps,offsets and a few scripts to autopatch a few models.
The offsets and file sizes are part of the naming convention i`ve used for the extracted
    files.

hoaca388 has made an excellent guide how to extract the VSS2 file and edit/clean it up by
    filling everything after...
