yes i use ch341a. not work with it ? i ask because i not understand if with ch341a i can program the chip 25q64fw with the file MX25U64.

Hello,

I got a faulty Acer Aspire 3 a315-21 laptop,
Mobo: QUANTA ZAS UMA DA0ZASMB8D0 rev. D
BIOS IC: Winbond W25Q64FWSIG (Soic-8, 8mb, 1.8V)
EC IC: GD25D10BT (Soic-8-n, 1mb, 3.3v)
Symptom: mobo starts (orange and blue lit) fan spins for a second, no display no boot. I hypotize a bios problem

Board looks good, no shorts and returns currents properly.

Tried crisis flashing (fn+esc) with no luck: blue flashed for about a minute USB sticks dont'even get accessed /light up.

Operations by now:

I managed to desolder and dump BIOS (8mb) and EC (128kb) ICs with CH341B programmer (Without either one of those, the board Is dead, no lights at all). After i soldered them back, the board fails to start at all only the orange light lits, while the blue light (and the fan) doesnt come up anymore , probably due to a bad joint or thermal damage, will buy brand new chips anyways to flash.

The mobo was on bios v1.12 and, stated i am trying to flash new bios, I am please asking for 1.25 BIOS and EC images to flash on the chips with my programmer, if you can provide me the files.

But i'd really be enlighted if someone explained me the procedure to make them, and why both uefitool and h2oeze could not extract anything useful from my dumps?

post S/N, full name and model, motherboard model, the name and model of the I/O chip..,etc.

post the contents of the bios chip even if it is corrupted..
The bios chip must be unsoldered from the board before writing or reading..
do not use the clip, you may have errors..if you do not have anything to unsolder it with,
solder wires between the programmer and the bios chip..

I don't use the clip to dump, always desolder the chips with the air station (ayoue2702+) and read them on the adapter.

I already posted (as an attachment) the .zip file on the original post containing the two dumps and a .txt with all the machine data in it, including it's serial number.
I would have edited the post again to include the serial number in plain view but there is no option to do that. then i'll add the missing data here.

Thanks alot, i can't tell you if the bios you provided me because the machine doesnt'boot anymore: the first time i desoldered the ec i probably damaged the nearby circuits, now i will look carefully if i can restore them. orange battery lights comes up when charger is plugged but doesnt blink anymore, while nothing happens when i push the power button, blue light doesn't light up neither. i got correct 3.3v tensions on ec flash chip, but got no tensions at all on the 1.8v bios flash chip, and will go after that to get the reason

anyway i made an interesting discovery on my old ec flash dump: at the address range between 0x001DFF0 and 0x001E100 there is the dmi data (model name, serial number and probably what i believe to be nic mac addres and windows key). in short in that laptop model the dmi data are stored into the EC flash rom and not in the main bios flash rom.

i will update as soon as i can get it tio start.
