How to use DUMP files? (Acer ES1-512)

    Hello,

I have exactly the same problem as this person (with the same motherboard):
    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...hlight=es1-512

Apparently he solved this problem by doing a flash of the bios thanks to the file in this post:
    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=55703

So I'd like to do the same... but I have no idea how to put this file back into the motherboard bios.

This is probably a stupid question for many of you, but I didn't find an answer when I looked on the forum (or maybe too many posts when I look for something like "flash dump bios"...)
I think it is necessary to desolder the bios to reprogram it using a programmer?

    Thank you for your help!

    Its not a stupid question.
The first thing to try is a bios recovery, that way you don`t have to dismantle the machine.
    https://www.bios-mods.com/bios-recovery/
If none of the bios recovery methods work you have to dismantle and use a hardware bios programmer. You don`t have to desolder the bios chip, you can use a clip, depending if the bios has "legs" on it such as a sop8, which is still the most common type of bios chip. https://www.ebay.com/bhp/soic-test-clip .The bios chip could be 1.8V or 3.3V ,some bios programmers only support 3.3V so you need a 1.8V adapter https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-8V-adap...item44072b3de3 .For other bios chips like WSON you need adapters for those .

Re: How to use DUMP files? (Acer ES1-512)

Thank you for this very interesting answer, I work in consumer computing as an HP specialist and I didn't know at all how to DUMP the bios in order to reinject them into others with adapted equipment. It's a good discovery!

I have solved my problem in a more "software" way. I found the CRISIS procedure for ACER and it worked after several attempts (especially to find the right name to put for the BIOS file).

      - Download the bios from the Packard-Bell website (in my case this link)
      - Extract the downloaded ".exe" files until you get the bios file with an ".fd" extension (in my case "53107s.fd")
      - Rename the file "53107s.fd to "BIOS.fd"
      - Format a USB stick in FAT32
      - Copy the "BIOS.fd" file to the root of the USB key
      - Disconnect the adapter AND battery from the computer
      - Connect the USB key to a USB port of the computer to be flashed
      - PRESS AND HOLD the "Fn+Echap" keys
      - Connect the adapter to the computer (ALWAYS HOLD Fn+Escap)
      - Press the power button (ALWAYS HOLD Fn+Escap)
      - When the computer fan is heard to start, RELEASE the Fn+Echap keys
      - Let the computer continue the BIOS recovery procedure

      Note :
In my case the power LED blinked for about 2 minutes with a black screen, then I disconnected the charger because nothing seemed to be happening and when I plugged the charger back in and pressed the power button everything started correctly.

If my experience can one day be useful to another person...

been there, did that, still nothing. no bluelight, can feel the fan turn on, usb stick blinks as if in use but nothing shows up.

every thing seems to be working with hardware except it's not turning on...

Acer Aspire 5920G - Requesting Modded BIOS (9600M GT) from .WPH for CH341A Flasher
          by EbrahimSiami
          Hello everyone,
I need help with my Acer Aspire 5920G laptop. Its original GeForce 8600M GT graphics card failed, so I replaced it with an Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT MXM card.

**Problem:** The laptop powers on, but there is no display (black screen) on either the internal LCD or external monitor. This indicates a BIOS compatibility issue with the new graphics card.

**What I have tried so far:**
          1. I have my **original stock BIOS dump (1MB .BIN file)** from my laptop, which works and allows the laptop to power on normally (but no display with 9600M...

BIOS file for N550JK (original dump attached)
          by joshAU
          Hi all.
I'm looking for a BIOS file for an Asus N550JK.

I have a Asus R552J, which I believe is identical to the Asus N550JK.
I downloaded the latest BIOS (210) for the R552.
          It is named N550JKAS.210.
The BIOS file is however only 6mb in size.

I've read the chip with a CH341A programmer and verified the file.
That file is actually 8mb in size.

I'm wanting to remove the BIOS password from this unit.

It prompts you to input the password when turned on, so its sort of behaving like a power on password rather than...

Merge ECS Z77-H2 bios cap file with original dump
          by adelage
          Hi,
I am trying to recover an ECS Z77-H2 motherboard, I dumped the original bios with a ch341a programmer, the bios from the manufacturer is a .cap file of smaller size, and it seems that I need to merge this file with other information from the dump, anyone can explain how to do that?

Acer Aspire 3 A317-51G Request Bios in .bin file
          by Danfay
Hello, I have an Acer Aspire 3 A317-51G, with a QH128AHIG XMC chip.
Due to a problem when I turn off the computer, I tried to upgrade the bios through Windows (10), this is the only possibility to update in Acer. Unfortunately, something went wrong . The laptop starts but I can't even access the Bios. I searched for a long time, without success, for the Bios version in .bin file .
The last functional Bios version was: InsydeH20, Rev. 5.0, Version 1.09 .
So I updated to version 1.11, which apparently either went wrong or is not functional.
          Does anyone...
