Lenovo ThinkPad E15 Gen2 Power Delivery

    Good day, everyone,

My ThinkPad E15 Gen2 suddenly stopped charging the battery and when the battery died the laptop is bricked.

The cause seems to be the power delivery circuit, namely the firmware on 24256e (UB9 on the schematic) chip.

I could not find the updated dump (current version is 2FF9 as per Lenovo) for this chip anywhere. So, please, if anyone has it or can make a dump from a working machine, please, share.

    Model: Lenovo ThinkPad E15 Gen2
    Type: 20TD-0005GE
    SN: PF-3J8PES

Hello, trust you are well. I have the same issue as you. Have you been able to get it resolved? Were you able to fix it via bios? If yes, can you please share?

It's most likely a manufacturing defect, very common on this model. I have repaired many, and expect to see many more in the near future.

Simply remove, clean and resolder QB6. Its on the rear of the board, just to the left of thev text "Rev 1.0"

Just want to say thanks for the tip. Resoldering QB5, QB6 fixed an E15 Gen2 for me. They weren't well attached and came off much easier than going back on, suspect the thermal pad connection was too good for the factory process.
