Exactly, due to the wrong unlocking procedure. In addition to the lack of service tag, there are more problems.
It doesn`t really matter to most they just want a working laptop. If its out of warranty anyway it doesn`t matter, and you can check for updates manually at the website.
If you copy the dell variable to a new bios region the pass is still there, modifying a part or parts of the variable in some way is needed to keep the service tag,key etc.For a bios that has no pass but just needs fixing this is the way to keep all info,by copying the dell variable DVAR.

You're right, maybe the important thing is just unlocking, quality doesn't matter for most.
Re: Dell latitude 3190 Suffix E7A8 Bios Password Request
@ctebke (this thread is for Latitude 3190) For anyone else reading this post, this E7A8 suffix generator has been released recently, you may generate the master passwords yourself at https://beta.bios-pw.org/, just having in mind that these passwords are calculated for a US QWERTY keyboard layout and if you have a QWERTZ or AZERTY keyboard you may need to do the proper conversion, or better yet, use a picture of a US QWERTY keyboard for key placement.
Other thing to consider is the "Open Bracket '['" key placement, this key is always at the RIGHT of P in a US QWERTY keyboard layout.
Precision 5520
65FDQN2-E7A8
Country: Germany (use US QWERTY keyboard or just exchange every Y for Z and Z for Y in master password)
Instructions:
- Type master password, use NATO phonetic guide under password.
- Press and hold down CTRL key followed by ENTER key twice (CTRL-ENTER-ENTER).
- If password #1 does not work proceed with password #2. Give them a few tries each each before saying it didn't work.
NOTE: Sometimes if using master password within Setup/BIOS, just pressing ENTER after typing password will do.
