Thank you @Volinakis for your brief explanation. Yes, I read the BIOS guides and I am reasonably familiar with the topic.
What password are you referring to? A secret manufacturer password on every machine or my own BIOS password?
(in my case there's no password whatsoever, my problem is Computrace)

When you mention DCPP, are you referring to "Dell Command Powershell Provider"?

try to set admin password and see if you can disable Absolute. Being 3rd party software DCPP can't disable it.

Thanks for the suggestion but that doesn't work.

I've also taken the laptop to a workshop where all the flashing and soldering equipment is available, including a microscope, but the technician was unable to clip the cables to the EEPROM and was also afraid of unsoldering it.

In the meantime, I found out that somebody has built a Dell BIOS Update "Packager", that seems to hold some promise:
If one could build a BIOS update with a modified BIN file inside, than we could fix this with a simple software update.
