    Yes, I would think so.

    1) Remove all power and check the resistance to ground of 5V_3V_EN.

You can also consider testing by removing the 2k2 series resistor and check if this same enable pin stays on @ 3v3.

    2) What is the voltage to ground of PCH_DPWROK ?

      Resistance to ground of 5V_3V_EN = 912Kohms

Upon removing the 2.2Kohm resistor PR504, EC_ON is 0v but will go up to 1.4v when you press the power button then will go back to 0v immediately.

5V_3V_EN will stay at 0v even when you press the power button.

I noticed also that now MAINPWON is 0v but I remember that this has 3.3v when the board is powered. Should I solder PR504 back and see what happens?

Re: Acer Aspire 5 A514-54-37V6 No power and no RSMRST# present

What is the voltage of ON/OFFBTN# when it is NOT pressed ?

This is an active low signal (since there is a '#' suffix), so when this line is LOW (grounded), the signal is sent to the EC to turn ON.

Can you confirm the voltage when it is pressed as well?

        Update:

Also, confirm the voltage of +RTCVCC to ground.

ON/OFFBTN# = 3.32v when power button is NOT pressed
ON/OFFBTN# = goes to 0v when power button is pressed

+RTCVCC voltage with respect to ground = 3.22v

The actions of the power button appear to be correct.

You can try to bypass the button using a pair of tweezers to ground. When use apply the tweezers to ground, it will be the same as pressing the on/off button. This is only to rule out that the button is defective.

So one side of the meta tweezer to this line. Other side to ground. Even a piece of wire can work.

Are the results any different if you test with above?

PS: very late for you there. Best to get some rest and continue with a clear mind. At this time, I do not think the EC is defective but something else is causing this quirk. We could force the enables to turn on using other methods but prefer to handle the proper way via the EC.

I am already using a wire to short the ON/OFFBTN# to ground in order to turn on the unit. You are right it's already morning here. I think I really have to sleep now to clear my mind. Thanks for your time. I appreciate it very much.

I forgot to update you folks on this repair. I already fixed this by replacing PU301. Thanks for all the help especially to Mon2.
