Hi all, I am experiencing a very strange problem with an Acer PT515-51 laptop. The system would randomly stop POSTing. This can happen either from a cold start or soft reset. I suspected it may be the CMOS so I dumped the ROM, full erased it and reflashed it with a clean image from the Acer support downloads. This some what improved the issue as it became way less frequent. I thought replacing the CMOS may help so I swapped in a new CMOS but after doing so, the system stopped powering on at all.
I suspected the components close to the CMOS may have been marginal and heating the area with hot air to replace the CMOS may have caused something to fail completely. I ID'ed a potential resistor right above the CMOS with an odd reading. It meters 150K and it doesn't feel right as the resistors in the area measured 10K max. I found the schematic here: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?p=942068 but there's no boardview available.
Was hoping someone here may have came across this board and have it on hand. Would be appreciated if you can help me ID the value of the resistor from the picture provided.
Thank you
