If you still haven't figured it out yet. The .cap just has a header in front of the actual rom. You can use UEFITool to extract the body from the .cap file downloaded from the ASUS support site and flash it with the ch341...

Re: Dell xps 13 9350 bios bin
Thank you for your feedback. The unit powers on briefly and does a 2 amber 2 white blink code repeatedly until it powers itself off. Searching online would suggest this is a BIOS/ROM issue. I tried flashing the ROM from #35 as per your suggestion but the unit is still exhibiting the same behavior so it doesn't appear to be a BIOS problem. Looks like there's a deeper issue with the MOBO, unfortunately, and is beyond my skill level. I do appreciate your help....

Re: MSI 1660S Ventus missing components
Hello Rezistor. I don't see any visible MS marking on the PCB. The only board marking is on top of the PCI-e contact pins and it reads V375 VER 1.2. I am not sure if this is the correct information. I appreciate your help. Thank you!...

MSI 1660S Ventus missing components
Hi all, I accidently knocked off some components on a MSI 1660S Ventus while trying to remove the heatsink to repaste the GPU. The missing components are located on the top left corner of the GPU. Does anyone happen to know what the values of the components are? I circled the missing components in the provided picture. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
PS If there's a boardview, that would help as well!...

Acer PT515-51 component ID
Hi all, I am experiencing a very strange problem with an Acer PT515-51 laptop. The system would randomly stop POSTing. This can happen either from a cold start or soft reset. I suspected it may be the CMOS so I dumped the ROM, full erased it and reflashed it with a clean image from the Acer support downloads. This some what improved the issue as it became way less frequent. I thought replacing the CMOS may help so I swapped in a new CMOS but after doing so, the system stopped powering on at all.
I suspected the components close to the CMOS may have been marginal and heating the area...Last edited by Caspar; 07-09-2022, 06:28 PM.

BENQ GW2780-T power board blown
Hi all, I am looking for some help in ID'ing some parts in an attempt to fix a power supply from a GW2780-T monitor. The power supply PN is 715G7300-P02-006-0V3R. I have been looking around for the PN and it appear the board was used by other OEMs as well (ASUS, Viewsonic). If anyone has a schematic, it would be helpful.
Quick look on the underside of the board, I can see:
-D905 is blown - ? value
-R920 is open - 1Ω ?W
-R927 is open - 20Ω ?W
On top side, I see:
-R931 open - 0.68Ω ?W
Metered short:
-P9NK65ZFP...

ASUS PH-GTX1050-2G - not detected
Hi all, looking for some help trouble shooting an ASUS PH-GTX1050-2G. CG210L REV. 1.00. 08003-10400X00
The card gets power and doesn't appear to be shorted anywhere. I measured the test points for MEM, PEX_VDD, 5V, 12V, GPU, 1.8V 3.3V and all appear to be correct. The only visible issue I see on the back side of the card is R558 appears to be missing from looking at the pads.
Any idea what value R558 may be? Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you....

Re: GTX1070 VRM keeps shorting out
Many thanks for your input. You were right, I found what appears to be an open 1ohm resistor on the back side of the PCB. I am not sure if it's the gate drive or current sensing resistor but the card will stay on with the resistor and 4C85N replaced. May I ask if there's a way to test if the driver is damaged? It's going to take a while for the order of the RT9611AGQW to get here from aliexpress. I looked up the data sheet for the RT9611AGQW and it appears you are also correct on the IC as well. Again, thank you for your very informative...

GTX1070 VRM keeps shorting out
Hi all, I have a GTX1070 that stopped working all of a sudden. My PC lost power all of a sudden and would not power back on unless I remove the 1070 from the machine.
I did some digging and I found the bottom VRM (4C85N) to be shorted on the top FET. The bottom FET appears to be ok. I replaced the VRM but as soon as I power on my PC the VRM gets shorted out instantly. I have tried replacing it twice but I get the same result each time. I don't have enough know how to troubleshoot this and am looking for input to try and figure what the cause is. The card will boot/power on with...
