    Compaq V2000 won't charge!!!!!

Ok so this v2000 will not charge while its turned on and running pluged into the ac adapter. (even when just sitting at the bios)but it charges fine when the system is off.In windows at the power meter it states (ac on - charging) X% but if u watch it it'll drop % down to 0% never gives a crit warning.and shut off instantly.(as if not pluged in)i haved used 3 known good chargers and 1 universal charger.all chargers WILL charge the battery when the AC adapter is pluged in and the system is NOT on.also if i remove the battery and power the system up from the adapter the system will not start (no post).instead it ticks and the HDD(even if no HDD is in it) and the scroll led blink in unison with the tick.the power light comes on (no blinking)so the system will not run on just the adapter?the v2000 will run for 2ish hours when fully charged.(once again the v2000 has to be turned off in order to charge it? so my question is does this sound like a maxim power chip problem. if so there is like i think 5 chips that say maxim or max****.any help, theroys,or shots in the dark would be great.

    Thanks

Try using a manufacturer-provided battery calibration utility.
Many laptop batteries have an electronic fuel gauge, which needs to be calibrated from time to time.
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

but that may not be the problem. I once looked at a laptop that had a bad or loose power plug and because of it, the power (from the AC adapter) would constantly come on and off. soon it got the the point that it would charge if the system was off but not if you turned the power on. In fact, if the power cord was plugged in at all, the system would do nothing. I was told that the circuit on the motherboard that controls whether the system uses the AC or battery power fried from the constant flux of jumping from battery to AC and back and forth constantly. I can not remember what that chip was called but maybe the same problem with yours. or soemthing similar. His was a transport GX3, but that does not mean that they might have the same MB manufacturer, and for that reason, same quality, same chips and therefor same problem..??
