pavilion x360 no power

Hi

I have pavilion x360 14-ba153cl it is charging but it does not power on. i have found a short on it and when injecting 1.2 volts i see the hit spot (thermal cam) in the CPU it self. how can i proceed from here ?

END OF LIFE unless and otherwise you want to replace SOC. Btw, dont inject more then 1V on these boards. Clear no no.

System On Chip. He is referring to the CPU in this case.

Goes to the donor pile usually for a shorted PCH/CPU. Getting a working replacement is the hard part. The ones on Aliexpress are usually pulled off old boards and often don't work.

the question is if the hit spot is on the CPU directly imply that the short is in the CPU ?

Yes. Usually it's in the PCH part of the CPU.

I mean, in this video the CPU is getting hot but he is searching for a blown mosfet on the CPU power supply and actually fixes it

He was sent the motherboard only and didn't test it. He even says he gets paid regardless if it works or not.

When those driver IC's/FET's go short, it's really down to luck whether the CPU/PCH/GPU survives or not. You have high and low side switching FET's...usually the high side goes short which destroys the CPU etc. Where I've seen these survive is when the power supply protection cuts in fast enough or the low side goes short as well. It's rare though.

If you are doing 1V injection and the CPU is getting warm, it's stuffed. But you can go through and change out the FETs/IC's if you want to go through the exercise.
