    Zbook 17 G3 I messed up…

I was trying to get around a bios password on an off lease machine that I had bought. I had a hard time reading the bios chip on the board and when I went to go desolder it, apparently I am unaware of my own strength, because I managed to rip the pad for pin 7 ‘PCH_SPI_HOLD#’ off the board. I’ve been poking around in what comes up for the schematic when you search for it and it really isn’t a schematic, like I am used to, it’s more of a block diagram of sorts and as far as I can tell, it doesn’t really tell me if or where I can pick that up somewhere else on the board. It looks like it ultimately heads to a bga chip but it also seems like there might be a resistor on the line somewhere. Anyone have a suggestion?

It's usually lack of heat not strength that rips pads.
Do what is usual in this instance, extend the trace to the missing pad.

Well yeah, I was trying to use humor to feel less stupid. I hadn’t had to break out the hot air in quite some time, so I’m out of practice. That pad doesn’t have any visible traces, I’m assuming that it comes up from another layer in the board. I haven’t seen anything like a board layout so I’m not sure, but that’s my guess.

Everyone rips pads off so don`t worry about it. Post some good clear photos of the damaged area
