    ECS Ibuddy A900 Notebook

    Hello Folks,

I need some help with ECS Ibuddy A900 Notebook. The notebook doesn't seem to turn on. No Power at all. I checked both the adapter and the battery they are both ok. I checked the Switch, fuses and the ac input plug. they all seem to be ok. After I checked all the caps. I found four caps that doesn't seem to work (1000uf 6.3V). I checked with the Oms meter and they are showing 0.00 so I think something is wrong there But here is the funny thing.

I replaced one of them. The cap was perfect before I put it in. I checked it with Cap tester and Oms Meter. But as soon as I put it in It does the same thing.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

More than likely, the four caps are in parallel. Therefore, if any one (or more) is shorted, then replacing any of the others won't fix the problem. You need to replace all four at the same time, then check it afterwards.

What was the manufacturer and series of the failed caps, and what are you using for replacements?

The short might be also anywhere else on the board. Shorted cap usually blows.

a shorted vrm or cpu can cause this too.
pull the cpu as it is usually easy.then caps.
does the light blink on the psu when it is connected to the note?
