Hey all, I'm new here and love the resource so far! I searched the forums but couldn't find an answer for this specific question. My background.... I took a robotics course in high school...... 17 years ago. since then I've gotten back into it and am taking this quite seriously. But with my schedule all I have are youtube videos. They have been helpful to an extent but on a laptop without a schematic it seems difficult without a background in electronics to know how things should be interacting.
The details of the laptop are as follows:
Razor Blade Stealth, i7-8550U/1.8GHZ, 16GB DDR4, 20170901 Motherboard RZ09-02393
I bought the laptop sans SSD and wifi card. It had a knowing p there were no signs of power. When I opened it up I checked for the obvious burnt caps and mosfets with bad readings. When that didn't work I got a power supply and put voltage through the board testing to see where the 19-20V were going to and if anything had no signs of power. I've already checked the common fuse issue and went through the entire board with a multimeter. I got so frustrated I ended up buying a working board to compare values. After doing this I found an inductor coil on the board that was reading differently (good board showed 035 bad board was 222) I spoke to a friend who's been helping me and he said that coil is likely bad. The two joints I circled in the picture also read 035 on the good board and 222 on the bad board. Picture will be attached below with the coil shown. The issue I'm running into is finding the values of this coil. The good coil shows 035 so I'm going to assume it's a .33 with a +/- of 20% the coil itself is marked R33 710 C6M . Looking every where I could there were only 3-4 digit markings to decipher but one resource stated the R is a decimal point and that's where I got the .33.
Am I wrong to think the R33 is the resistance (.33) and the 710 is the size (7.1mm) I can't for the life of me find anything about what the C6M could be?
I'm looking for any input or directions I should be looking in this matter. I am just learning all of this but had up until this point been tracking fairly well. What I'm looking for is:
1)Suggestions as to areas to research on the board and places to look for other issues.
2) a part number for the R33 710 C6M inductor coil (pictured)
3)a jedi master to allow me to study under them
