I was wondering what are the risk involved if a non compatible display cable is used. I have this dell 3441 motherboard which needs a display cable replacement and my supplier has sent me a dell 3542 display cable. The customer is not willing to wait so any word of advise will be appreciated.

I have't compared the schematics of the two models, but in general If the connectors are the same, it doesn't necessarily mean that the pinout is the same, so I do not recommend such experiments, or you may see smoking screen and/or motherboard.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One of the supplier sent me 3542 cable and another one sent me 3442 cable but the webcam is not working...so this has been a very frustrating experience so far. I dont have 3442 schematic to check the pinout details.Comment
