    Asus UX51VZ

    Hello guys,

I have encountered a huge problem. I got my hands on Asus Zenbook UX51VZ with UX51VZ motherboard, and after I replaced battery, it shows in OS, looks like it's charging, but actually it does not charge. Laptop does work from it as long as there is at least some charge in battery. At first plug in it showed 100% full charge and LED was green, but after disconnecting charger after about 3 minutes it dropped to 2% and stayed that way without charging.

I tried replacing battery, got another one. same thing.

when i measure voltage at battery connector, once I plug it in, i get 0V at PIN3 [green wire, from left]

    any ideas?

When it's plugged in laptop try measure between black and red wires. Connect charger and see again voltage.
Also on 2 wires (green and yellow guess) you should have 3.3v (communication with motherboard).

okay, after measuring, with battery plugged in and multimeter connected to black and red wire it says 14.6V , with charger connected 14.5V .

      other wires are as follows:

      RED - 14.X
      RED - 14.X
      BLACK - GND
      WHITE - 3.3V - charger plugged in, otherwise 0V
      YELLOW - 3.3V - charger plugged in, otherwise 0V
GREEN - 0V with charger plugged in (when battery unplugged, it says 2.9V)
      BLACK - GND
      BLACK - GND

According to boardview, green wire is TS1#_BAT_CON (PIN 6)

Your battery is good and is communicating ok with laptop. Problems is on board or in windows.
For this laptop do you have a special program for battery? For example at Lenovo if you don't install energy managment the battery charges only 70%

probably on board since it does not charge even when turned off. i don't think there is any special software for battery management, at least i can't find any on asus website.

Try connect and disconnect battery while laptop is powered on and with charger pluged in. See if it says some level of charging and changes imediately. In windows 10 you can see better.

Also you can use software "batterymon" to see more details about battery.

              ok, so...

i have 2 batteries. one is cheap chinese brand from aliexpres (possibly without protection circuit) and one from local seller (also chinese but much more expensive and with all protections possible i guess).

anyway, expensive one does not show up in windows at all.

cheap one does show up but does not charge.

except, when i quickly unplug and replug charger. then it started to charge and battery is still cold to touch eventough I can measure around 16V on red wire.

Can you measure directly the li-po elements? It's probably that they droped below 3.7 and the laptop doesn't charge'it below some level.
