    HP Pavilion DV6 - 3017TU battery/charging issue

HP Pavilion DV6 - 3017TU battery does not work properly. Laptop does not start without AC adapter. Inside windows , it says battery not detected although if you remove the AC adapter while Laptop is running, it still works fine.

I upgraded the Bios to F.29 but still problem exist.

Can anyone tell me where to start as far as checking voltages is concerned.. .

    Thank you

    Tried known good battery?
    Give motherboard model number.

      Re: HP Pavilion DV6 - 3017TU battery/charging issue

Sorry for the late response. Was waiting for a good working battery to rule out battery issue. As expected tested with a known good battery but still same issue.
      Board number A0LX6MB6F2 REV:F Quanta LX67
Unable to find the exact schematic. The one shared here, does not match.

Additional info : Laptop often boots into black screen and then I have remove and re-attach the battery for it to boot normally.

        Re: HP Pavilion DV6 - 3017TU battery/charging issue

I've seen bad batteries cause no POST issues too… but if you tried with a known good battery it must be something else. I guess something happening on the SMBUS.

So measure voltage and diode mode to ground on SMD and SMC on the battery connector (pins 3 and 4).

The schematics I have is for "PROJECT : LX6_LX7", is it the wrong one?

Can you please share the schematic ..

So the measurements are as follow when connected with battery only:

          Battery Voltage is 10.5 Volt
          SMD - 1.5 Volt
          SMC -3.3 Volt
          Pin 6 : 1.5 Volt

Under Diode mode ( Red Probe to ground ) :
          Pin 3 : 1.229
          Pin 4 : 1.133

            Re: HP Pavilion DV6 - 3017TU battery/charging issue

This should be the correct one:
            https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...60&postcount=1

Make sure you got the pinout correct, otherwise there is probably an issue on SMD as it should be around 3.3V too. Check on AC only too.
Diode mode measurement is a bit weird, you should unplug the battery, but let's ignore that for now.

              With AC only :

              SMD - 1.2 volt
              SMC - 3.3 volt

Checked with adapter and battery both attached :

              SMD - 1.2 volt
              SMC - 1.4 volt

              Please suggest , thanks.

Could this be a BIOS issue ? What is the source of SMD voltage when no battery is installed ? Is t directly coming from IO, if so why is IO generating 1.2 volt instead of 3volt?

The lines are pulled up by R337 and R336. Check voltage on both sides of those, and check resistance across them. They may also be connected to the charger IC through PR80 and PR82 if they're present or jumped on the board.

R336 is 3volt on one side and only 1.2 volt on the other. Please suggest

Is the resistor rating ok as per schematics(measurement should be done by taking it out of circuit)?? Resistance to ground on the side of 1.2V is ok?? If so, then try jumpering it.

Thanks I will check resistance to ground.

I beleive you are getting 3v on the resistor on the kbc side. Do make it sure.

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

                                          Hello everyone,

I'm experiencing an issue with my Alienware 15 R2 (Service Tag: DL7NN32). The laptop works perfectly when connected to the AC adapter — it powers on and functions normally. However, the battery does not charge. If I disconnect the DC adapter, the laptop shuts down immediately, as the battery is at 0%. I have replaced the battery with a new compatible one, but the issue persists. I also replaced the AC adapter with a compatible one, but the battery still doesn't charge.

To assist with troubleshooting, I'm attaching two power circuit schematics:

Hello. Sorry for the long post, but I am trying to decide if this is a simple battery replacement, or potentially something more complicated.

I bought an open box MacBook Air M1 2020 A2337. Seller claimed it was never used. Visually, it appears pristine.

On arrival, the battery was completely flat. Computer powers up and boots fine. Battery status showing 1% and charging, 1 cycle. coconutBattery showing 0 mAh and ~6 watts.
After some hours, the battery status did not improve. Restore via DFU did not help.

I connected the power adapter to a Kill-a-Watt...

HP ProBook 445 G8 Battery not charging
                                          by Julian Bailey
                                          Hi all

We have in a HP ProBook 445 G8 laptop with AMD Ryzen 7 CPU. When power is connected the power LED light blinks 5 times then stops. Normally HP laptops will blink this LED 10 times as it does a self test when the AC adaptor is inserted. So there must be some sort of short somewhere.

The battery doesn't charge, and is erratic on the MM voltage. Bench PSU LED pulsates when the battery is connected also. So the fault must be on the charging circuit?

I have gone around the board with a MM and cant find anything

                                          Windows shows the battery fine,...

Lenovo P43s won't boot with internal battery connected – looking for help diagnosing battery issue

                                          Hi everyone,

I'm having an issue with my Lenovo ThinkPad P43s. The laptop does not power on when the internal battery is connected, but it works fine on AC power alone (battery disconnected). Once the battery is reconnected, the system becomes completely unresponsive — no lights, no fan spin, nothing.

Here's what I've tried so far:
                                          • Power/EC reset (held power button for 60 seconds with battery and AC disconnected)
                                          • Booted successfully on AC power only with the battery disconnected
                                          • Visual inspection of the battery — no swelling, burn marks, or connector damage
                                          • Battery
                                          ...
