    Sony Vaio SVF152A29M - No power on - DA0HK9MB6D0 Rev.D

    Hello everyone,

    I have this sony notebook, which shows no sign of life, no led comes on, not even the battery charging indicator.

    I checked on the motherboard and 19V is present, and +3V_WAKE and +5V_WAKE are present on PL11 and PL12.

    Also +3V_S5 is present on bios chip Pin 8, and +3VPCU is ok on Nuvoton NPCE985L chip.

    The voltages are present both with the power supply and with the battery only.

    I could only find that on the power button there is no voltage and no short, and I already flashed the bios with a known good dump.

    Does the power button voltage comes from the Nuvoton?
    Is it dead?

    I never had to deal with a SIO chip, does this chip needs to be reprogrammed before replacing.

    Test pin 108 of SIO for 3.3V NSBWON#

      Hi,

      checked pin 108, 0V.

      no short to ground either.

      Also checked continuity between pin 108 and power switch connector CON2 pin9, measure 1Kohm resistance.

        now test pin 4 10 11 64 123 115 102 of SIO

          Pin 4 VDD 0V
          Pin 10 LID# 3.3V
          Pin 11 AC_PRESENT 0V
          Pin 64 AC_IN 3.3V
          Pin 123 RSMRST# 0V
          Pin 115 +3VPCU 3.3V
          Pin 102 AVCC 3.3V

            When the Power, BIOS, EC are OK the RSMRST# will go high in the other word pin go Low only when the SYSTEMRESET. if BIOS DATA is error, RSMRST# won't go high. check if any short on RTC / RTCRST/ DEEP EC ON / EC WAKE ON

              You get +3VALW and +5VALW on coils??

                Thank you all for your help.

                I solved it, it seems it was the bios IC, even if it programmed and verified ok, it wasn't working.

                Today I replaced it with a new one and it worked.
