Asus Q552U DC Jack Torn Trace

Replacing a badly damaged DC jack on an Asus Q552U motherboard and when the old jack came out the pad tore off the board with it on one side. I was hopeful that with the new jack installed there might be enough left over to work but no dice, it won't charge.

    Here's the good side:

And the side with torn pad:

Where should I run jump wire from?

It seems the bottom side traces are ok and properly soldered as well. Then you can simply discard the top side torn pad part as these should be same connection on top & bottom side. You can verify that by checking continuity on top and bottom side of the other two pins. So, in my opinion charging issue should be separate issue and perhaps not related to dc jack replacement.

Continuity check top to bottom on center pin checks out, but after taking a closer look at the bottom jack I see that the not only did the pad come out but also part of the sleeve, see the pic

I'm thinking maybe that left the intact pad disconnected from the main trace, thus no power is getting through.

If the via is damaged it disconnected the internal plane, depending on the PCB stackup that can be an issue.
What's the motheboard model number? Can you send high resolution pictures of both sides of the board?

Yes, that's exactly the problem I believe.

I'm not 100% sure but I think the positive pin of the DC-in jack is supposed to go to the piece of trace I squared in red.

OK, here's a higher rez pic of that area. So I should be able to run a jumper from the pin to a pad like the one circled here:

Re: Asus Q552U DC Jack Torn Trace

Ran a jump wire from the center pin to the pad area you suggested & am getting charging light now!

Need to pickup some higher quality solid core wire for a permanent fix and will test more once I have that in but looks very promising.

Can you break down your reasoning on how you figured out where it needed to go?

                Thank you!
