I have made dc jack replacement many times in the past with no problem, as this is a simple repair.
Anyway, this time i had a bad day with an acer 8920g with bad dc jack which have stripped negative pin. Before jack replacement the laptop powers up normally, but had the symptoms of random reboots (i suppose due NEC/TOKIN cap).
I start the dc jack replacement. I disassemble only the requirement parts to change the jack, soldered the new jack, re screw jack in place and made a test power up without battery(as it is almost dead). when i connected psu i noticed a small spark at jack but i didn't care as i have seen this happens before. Leds lights up normally and i push power button. It starts and almost immediately leds gone off then on and so on, on a loop. After this loop laptop gone completely dead, no leds, no power up, nothing.
I noticed a knocking sound from m/b for a while and then silence.
I completely disassemble the laptop and inspect m/b, there is no visual damage and i crossed my hands as i don't know what to do.
Is it possible to repair?
