Hey guys, I have yet another mystery to solve on my Toshiba Satellite A205. About a year ago I bought a 9 cell battery for it on amazon. It never did perform great and a while ago it got so bad I would get about 5 mins on a full charge. It also would usually not charge up and it was rare to get it to charge at all. The cells inside were obviously the cheapest crap China cells you can get, so I swapped them out for some 2.2Ah cells I had around. I now get over 2h of battery life which is more than that thing has ever had before.
The only problem I'm facing is that the laptop only charges when it is shut off. About 8 seconds after the laptop is turned on, the charger switches off and the laptop only runs on AC and doesn't charge the battery. To get the battery to charge again, I need to turn the laptop off and unplug it and plug it back in. The battery charging chip is enabled and disabled by the system EC. When the enable line is high, the charger is disabled, when the line is pulled low by the EC, the charger is enabled. Like I said, about 8 seconds after the laptop is turned on, that data line goes high, disabling the charger.
Any ideas why this is happening?
Thanks
