    Sony VGN-N530E MS72 MBX160 no power

    Hi,it's completly dead board,voltages:
    PF1,PQ1,PQ2 and PQ3 -> 19.5
    MAX1909:
    Pin1 ->18.5
    Pin3 ->4
    Pin 16,17 and 18 -> 0.0
    Pin 20,22 and 23 -> 18.7
    Pin 24,28 -> 19.5
    TPS51120: Pin 22 ->0.0

    What is the problem you think? Max1909?
    Thank you

      TPS51120: Pin 22 ->0.0

      That means there is no "DCBATOUT" PQ2 drain.You must be check DCBATOUT to gnd short or not, if its not short you check pq1 and pq2 for short "g" gate pin to own "d"drain or "s" source pin. And check MAX1909 pin 6 ACOK, it is must be high about 3v. MAX1909_LDO is also very important device datasheet page 13 "Device Power Supply. Output of the 5.4V linear regulator supplied from DC IN"

        I know this is an old thread but just for reference just had a vgn-n21e (rev1.1) that was totally dead and suspected max1909, turned out to be a short 10uf 25v ceramic (pc106) on the dcbatout line.
