Compaq cq56 ec flash location

Hi

Can anyone help me to locate ec flash chip on this board or it's embedded in main bios chip.Only thing i can find from eeproms on this board is U17. I need to flash ec and if anyone have dump i would be thankful.

im still kind of noob in this

It is the main and only bios on this board...old school bios...it is the 8 pin chip on the left side of wifi card socket in picture 1...

I think that is there one bios chip in this model
and = 2mb

tnx guys for help i manage to locate U17 before ,but still struggles me If this is only main bios how do i then flash kbc? just by flashing main?

that is only one bios...kbc is not programmable here...actually main bios is for it...if you have black screen problem it is because of your chiset not bios...

actually my problem is not powering on.I dont have rsmrst# generated and no S5_ON and S5_OND all of this came from kbc all other voltages are fine kbc have normal 3.3v and i have LID_EC# present, power sw is ok.

Little update i replace kbc but still the same no rsmrst# and s5_on any ideas

check again kbc connections...Maybe your southbridge is pulling those signals down...I would check that...

Agree, could be southbridge. Even though i have never seen bad SB on these boards, it's always the NB/IGP which fails. See if any USB ports are shorted.

unfortunately i dont have scope to check crystal on south but i get 9 ohms to ground mesuring from pl9 (1.1v) phase,usb is not shorted.To bad thers is non of 0ohms resistors from rsmrst signal to south so i can remove one i check when is not conected to southbridge i rly dont know what to look any more other then remove it and then see if rsmrst go high.
