    Re: Compaq NX6310 display ?

Before I play with the LCD module connection, I buy already a new membrane and see what happens....
    I keep posted..

There are many techniques. That one may give you some ideas. Here's another.

A soldering iron is probably a little safer but either an iron or hot air will work. I would start at about 200C. Only go higher if you have to.

Thanks for the video but 200 will melt the plastic right...or I use capton tape for it...I ll see after the membrane comes

Protect things around it with tape or foil if you have to. But remember.. you are not soldering. You just need to get the cable reasonably hot for a short length of time. Try a few seconds and test the LCD after and then try a longer time if needed. The adhesive will not melt or anything like that. The only way you will know if it's helping it to turn on the LCD after every attempt.

It's not any kind of normal glue. They use anisotropic conductive film. It conducts electricity in the Z-axis direction (between the cable and the board), but not in the X or Y directions (shorting between neighboring pins). They use that because it's such a tiny cable with many many little pins.

I see ...and the melting point is similar with hot glue or lower?

It doesn't melt with heat. It cures/sets with heat. And that's why repairing it without replacing the adhesive doesn't always work. But the curing temperatures are in the wikipedia article I linked. Much hotter than hot glue.
