Too update this thread after installing the extra 1gb memory and installing windows 7 home premium 64 bit and fully updating and insalling all drivers etc the laptop now seems to run fine no issue installing any programmes etc, so neighbour has now had it back.The original problem whem i installed vista i guess may of been a bad iso as my disk was scratched a little but im not 100% sure anyway windows 7 is better imo than vista and my neighbours happy so alls good.
