Here's one of the nastier ones. A Toshiba L350D with a NB "reflowed" so far that was black, bloated and completely shorted.
I replaced it with one i pulled from another dead board, that had also been heatgunned (
) but it measured ok so i went with it. This computer wasn't worthy of a new chip anyway. The result? Unsurprisingly, it runs just fine. I have left it running a youtube loop until tomorrow and we'll see, but i expect it will be still working.
Of course, after i verified that the laptop turned on, i also replaced the Tokin capacitor. Not exactly my cleanest job on that, but hey, if it works...
