    Asus EeePC 1000H Boot Problem

    Hi Guys,
I am working on this Asus EeePC 1000H Netbook and am having a really hard time trying to boot it up. It had Windows XP running on it and it just went dead. It had a 160GB HDD, and 1GB RAM.

All LED's for Power, Battery, WLAN/Bluetooth are on except for the HDD LED. There is NO DISPLAY on the screen.
I have done all I believe should be done or probably must have had missed out something.

I have pulled out the battery, plugged it back, reset the CMOS button under the netbook, reseated the RAM, reseated the HDD, reseted the CMOS from the main board underneath from where the RAM is, I am just totally out of ideas from now. I need help.

I am getting NO LED Light for the HDD
There is no display on the screen, nothing... just blank dead and nothing.....
Please if anybody has any ideas...help me..

    Hi Smitthy,
try to power the netbook without the HDD (pull out the HDD, maybe it's faulty) and report back.

      Hi WGenius,
I have tried that already it still didn't work. I also tried removing the RAM and powering it up but still nothing.
I even took both the RAM and HDD out and tried but the HDD LED is still not coming on and there is still no display. I also placed another working HDD into it to test but still no display.
So the original HDD seemed to be in good shape.
      Something is still not right.......

Well, when powering up the netbook without RAM installed, did you get beeps sound ? if not then you have a corrupted BIOS or a defective motherboard.
Try to get another memory module (RAM) and test it or:
Remove the RAM cover and remove the RAM. There should be a gold sticker with BIOS information on it. Remove this sticker and short (make a connection) the two metal pins (the two gold arrow heads) for at least 30 seconds (use a paper clip), that should reset the BIOS (hardware reset). Replace the sticker, RAM and cover, and see if that works for you.

          Thanks again WGenius,
I tried that already it still doesn't work. The other thing is that I did not get any beeps at all, if not the beep codes would have pointed out the error. I believe the motherboard must be defective. I still have to try replacing the RAM, I just have to find one that fits into this PC, the others I have are of different models or have the slot at a different place. I will try the RAM replacement and advise you. Otherwise it should be a defective motherboard.
