ASUS N53JL, only 1 slot ram work

Hello everyone,i need help with ASus N53jl core i5,when i turn on, there is no image and after few seconds the fan go to max speed, so i put out the one ram (2ª ram) and works fine. Well my question is, why work with one ram and with 2 not works ( boths rams 2g are good i,am tested)the machine only have 2 slots.

Can anyone help whith this fault?

did it *ever* work with the 2 rams you have?

because some types of ram wont work on intel chipsets if you have more than 1.
