Lenovo ideapad 3 no power, orange light blinks once when charger inserted

Hi guys,

I wonder if anyone has encountered this. I have a Lenovo ideapad 3 that shows no signs of life except when the charger is first inserted the orange charge light comes on for a brief second and then goes off. There is no other sign of life and no fans or lights come on.

if I check the voltage going to the battery it spikes when I insert the charger and then hoes back down.

i tried injecting 2V but nothing gets hot. Any ideas? Im still a noob.

So another thing. If I hold the power button while I insert the charger the machine looks like it try’s to switch on for a very brief second.

Sounds like the unit is shutting down due to an excessive current draw on the board. Remove all power. Meter in resistance mode. Test the resistance to ground of each and every inductor on the board. Each inductor is linked to a local power supply. Testing for shorted parts. Post the list of all suspects.
