    Acer Aspire switch 10 SW5-012

    Hi,
I have a Aer table which does not charge. When I plug in charger the bars in the battery icon move for about 10 seconds and then stops. It does not put any charge into the battery.
It switches on fine and works as it should bar the charging. The orange led to show charging is lit as well.
I have had a look at the board and cannot see any shorts or burnt components.
Hoping someone will have any experience of this fault.
Any tips on where I should be looking would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

The easiest solution might be, if the battery is just full charged. Another reason can be, that an over-temperature issue occures and forces the protection. So I think there can be an issue inside of the battery.
What is the behaviour of the tablet after just switch-on? With and without charger connected?

Thanks for response. I have attached some photos of where I'm at with this.
The battery does not charge at all and the charger does nothing and tablet dies when battery goes flat (with charger plugged in) so I have used an old Acer tablet to charge it externally (as shown in photo not pretty I know but does the job).
I have tried a new battery and it does not charge either.
The red circles show where these caps show short. The blue circle shows where a 12v can been seen going in the ic (vbus1) but only mV coming out (bat1/2).
Another member on this forum has replaced both ic's but with little success to the outcome.
I do have a schematic so can poke around other areas to try.
If not repairable what is the best way to offload the software onto another tablet? ie does it have to be the same make/model? Do I use Microsoft backup to save and restore on another tablet?
The software on their is just car diagnostics etc.
Appreciate the time anyone reading this and can offer help.

The dark-grey components are inductors. The brown components are capacitors. The inductors need to show lower-ohm. The capacitors need to show higher-ohm to GND and highest ohm to any VDDs. Usually something between several ohms and up. Also, there shall be no connection between the input rails and the output rails.
I think it's necessary to check the charging circuit without the battery first. Usually, the tablet should work without the battery. But nowadays some designers considered to assume a working battery. Let's see.

          Hi,
Many thanks for your reply. The inductors show very little resistance as expected and the caps around 20-40ohms to gnd. Without battery the tablet does not power up if charger is just connected.
With battery and charger connected (when powered up) it shows connected to charger but as I said earlier it takes power from the battery until it goes flat and the unit switches off.
When the charger is connected when powered up the icon on battery moves like it is taking a charge but stops after 10 seconds.
Hope this helps and look forward to any tips on what I should be measuring and where.
